Legal Iceland assists international couples with the legal and administrative steps required to marry in Iceland. We assess each couple’s circumstances, identify the documents likely to be required and liaise with the relevant authorities where instructed.
We provide an initial eligibility and document assessment, review foreign civil-status documents, explain certification, legalisation and translation requirements, and assist with submissions to Icelandic authorities.
Requirements depend on nationality, residence, previous marital status and the country issuing each document. We provide a tailored checklist and review documents before submission.
We provide legal and administrative support. We do not act as a wedding planner, arrange travel or accommodation, or guarantee that an authority will accept particular documents.
